It is widely known that the higher above sea level, the lower the pressure. The higher the pressure, the less changeable the weather. At a pressure higher than 1020 mbar, we can expect a dry, clear day. In summer this will simply be fine weather, while in winter the day will probably be frosty (although with the possibility of fog). Pressure in the range of 1005–1020 mbar indicates changeable weather. Periods of clearing may alternate with brief showers. At pressure below 1000 mbar, the sky will be overcast and we can expect rain. An increase in pressure means improvement, and conversely, a drop means a deterioration in the weather. Sudden, distinct pressure jumps in summer may indicate severe storms.

A barometer is a very precise device for measuring air pressure. For this purpose it uses a so-called vacuum capsule, whose walls expand or contract by hundredths of a millimetre depending on the changing air pressure.

A person feels comfortable at a temperature between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius and at air humidity of 35-65%. We should maintain appropriate air humidity. It is a matter of our health and well-being. It should be remembered that the air humidity measured by a hygrometer placed in the home will correspond only to indoor humidity. Outdoors, large fluctuations in humidity occur during the day.

The barometer, thermometer and hygrometer were calibrated at the factory. However, due to, for example, strong shocks, a new adjustment may prove necessary. To perform it in the case of the barometer and hygrometer, use a screwdriver and adjust the screw on the rear wall of the device in accordance with the recommendations in the enclosed instructions. In the case of the thermometer, if the mercury column has separated, several sharp jerks will help.
